Forget Black Friday. Forget consumerism. Everything is now 100% off! At least according to this utopian vision of Formidable Vegetable’s new and completely ‘off-brand’ anthem celebrating the best things in life (which, incidentally are free!)
From electro-raver funk, award-winning children’s music and Eurovision-style subversion at the United Nations to big-band garage rock, Formidable Vegetable’s latest shape-shifting single pumps their ecological and socially equitable message up to Eleven, as the world continues to be pulled deeper into the Anthropocene and hyper-capitalist dystopia. What can we mere mortals do? November 29th is Buy Nothing Day, so the solution may be as simple as: Just Buy Nothing!
The single drops in time for the Formidable Vegetable’s appearance at the Rising Tide Protestival in Newcastle on Nov 22 and Canberra on the 27th alongside the likes of Peter Garret, John Butler, Angie McMahon and Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, where over 10,000 people are taking climate action into their own hands by blockading the world’s largest coal port and putting pressure on the government to stop approving new coal mines in the midst of a climate crisis.
After that, the band will appear at Woodford Folk Festival in December and tour the east coast with Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis and GRAMMY-winning family hip-hop MC, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, finishing up at Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania. Tickets from: bit.ly/costasgarden
